We've all had that yucky feeling.........you're prospecting your
friend and suddenly they don't answer the phone when you call ("DARN
that Caller ID", you find yourself thinking) Or, you're in the local
grocery store and you see someone you talked with about your network
marketing company, or maybe it's someone you recently sent to your
network marketing web site. Suddenly, though, before you even get
a chance to say "Hello", they turn around and go the other way, acting
as if they didn't see you.
Come on............admit it..........these things have happened to
you, too. How does that sort of reaction from your friends make you
feel? Do you find yourself thinking, "Maybe I'm NOT network marketing
material", or maybe you think "Man, if prospecting my friends for
my network marketing company is going to make them avoid me, this
really isn't for me"? I know how it feels because these things are
results of traditional network marketing prospecting.
Can I tell you about the way I've learned to prospect? it works great!............do
you want to know how to prospect without the fear of rejection? Do
you want to know how to build your network marketing business without
your prospects even knowing you're prospecting them? Well, YOU CAN
and literally thousands of people do. |
Is this something I've invented? Certainly not. (And, I'm going to
give you a few references to read and learn more about the process.)
Right now, though, let's talk about how the process might work. I
call it No Fear Network Marketing. There's no fear because the fear
of rejection is completely eliminated. Like that idea? I did, too!
Here's the key. If people think they are being "Sold something" they
back up. If people think you're talking about MLM network marketing,
a network marketing opportunity, or a multilevel marketing opportunity,
they back up. It's human nature because of historical life patterns
we've developed. Somehow the network marketing industry gained a bad
rap, but the truth is that even traditional businesses are built on
network marketing..........but I'll save that topic for another time!
So, the key is to talk to your prospects in a manner that is regular,
every day conversation. What is every human beings favorite topic?
HIMSELF or HERSELF. Everyone loves to talk about themselves. That
makes our job simple. Just LISTEN. Now, I'm talking about really,
really listen. Don't be thinking about what you're going to say. Don't
be thinking about the time your Aunt Lindy drove her car into the
lake and your story will surely one-up the previous one. LISTEN to
what your friend is saying. Guess what? You'll HEAR exactly what you
need to hear in order to eventually turn this prospect into a network
marketing business partner. Did you catch the KEY WORD here? It's
EVENTUALLY. Don't jump right into "Hey! You NEED to be doing what
I'm doing" or "MAN! You NEED to hear about how I'm making a ton of
money." Don't do that! It comes off like a pushy network marketer!
While you're anxious to build your networking business and you KNOW
this person could be the one you're looking for, you're in the network
marketing industry for the long run, aren't you? If this person doesn't
hear your story right now, does that mean you'll be finished with
your networking career? NNNOOOOO. So, don't be anxious. Don't push
your networking business. Don't immediately shove a phone in their
ear to hear your company's awesome pre-qualifying call. JUST LISTEN
TO THEM. How often do people just listen? When is the last time anyone
REALLY LISTENED to you? It's rare. And, when you really listen to
someone, they think you are the most fabulous conversationalist o
n the planet. (remember, you didn't say much....you asked questions
and let them do all the talking. People LOVE that because it almost
never happens.)
Now your prospect thinks you are great! Do they want to avoid you?
Heck no, you've become their new best friend. Then, a few days later,
or the next time you run into that prospect in the grocery store or
at the Little League game, you can say : "HI Susan! I really enjoyed
our conversation the other day. It was great fun catching up with
you. Say, where are you working these days? Oh! You've been there
a long time. You must really like your job. (Then Susan is going to
tell you all the things she hates about where she works). But, don't
jump on that opportunity.
Wait for her to ask what you're doing. Then you can say "Well, I
still work at the Sporting Goods Store, but I've also go a little
part-time business on the side and I'm stashing money for our whole
family to go on a cruise to Alaska next month." Is Susan going to
ask you what you're doing? Of course she is! Now SHE'S asking you
to tell her about your network marketing opportunity! Or you can say:
"Hey Susan, I was thinking about our conversation the other day. By
the way, I really enjoyed that time talking with you! Well, you mentioned
that you and your family are planning a vacation to Key West this
summer, but you're concerned about paying for it. Are you open to
hearing about a way you could not only pay less for that trip, but
also earn enough additional income between now and the summer to fully
pay for the vacation?"
Now you've put your qualifying question into her terms. You already
KNOW what she needs money for because you LISTENED to her in your
previous conversation. By meeting their needs your prospects WANT
to know about your network marketing business.....they even want to
know about the income producing side of your networking opportunity.
It's at this point that you go into your company's prospecting system.
Maybe it's a 1-800 pre-qualifying call, maybe it's to 3-way in one
of your upline.
Whatever your company's system is, it'll work better because your
prospect is asking you for information. Now, does that work or what??!!
